Welcome to EMS Week 2010 - a celebration of our nation's Emergency Medical Service!  We'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that your local EMS service - whether professional paid or volunteer - is here to serve you and your family 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, with exceptionally trained and ready medical care providers.

Here at Edison #2, we continue our proud history of FREE, top quality care for all our resident and vistors to Edison.  In addition to our basic life support and rescue services, we provde standby medical readiness for large crowd events, sporting events, parades and cultural gatherings.  We hold and sponsor community first aid and CPR programs, babysitter/child care programs, and can assist your group with everything from bike safety to elder care in the home.

EMS is more than just 9-1-1 and an ambulance...we're your lifeline in the community. PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUADS!

During EMS Week 2008, Squad 2 would like to remind you of the followings ways YOU can help us do our job better:

  • Be sure everyone in your home, even little ones, knows about and how to use 9-1-1
  • For you're on multiple medications, keep an updated list handy, or use a system like the Vial-of-Life™
  • Be sure your house number is clearly visible from the street, especially at night
  • When calling 9-1-1, leave your porch light on to help the ambulance find you
  • Keep hallways and doorways clear of clutter when summoning the ambulance
  • Restrain or remove pets when emergency services are called
  • Learn CPR
  • Install carbon dioxide alarms in your home
  • Secure pool areas with fences/locked gates
  • All children under 17 years old should wear a bike helmet when on a bicycle or scooter
  • Kids need elbow and knee pads along with a helmet when roller skating or skateboarding
  • ALWAYS use your seatbelt, and refrain from using cell phones while driving!
